South Middle School is excited to begin the 2011-2012 school year.  SMS is proud to be a part of the Making Middle Grades Work initiative. Our school is also excited to partner with Winthrop University's Richard W. Riley College of Education to improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement as part of a $7.5 million Teacher Quality Partnership Grant.

Students are not allowed to wear large jackets in the classroom. If you wear one in the morning to school, they need to be placed in lockers during the day. Also, shirts and sweatshirts cannot have any emblem larger than a quarter. All clothing needs to be worn to fit in the solid school colors. For further questions, please refer to the student handbook.  Attached, you will find a copy of the NEW Middle School Dress Code.
